The Council considers that the two freestanding adverts are of poor quality and with their prominent siting on the landscaped area adjacent the highway have an adverse impact on visual amenity by virtue of their overall size, scale and position. Accordingly, the proposal is contrary to Local Plan Policy SP60 ‘Advertisements’ and the guidance in the National Planning Policy Framework.

The signs are dispayed illegally and prosecution has been authorised to effect their removal, please advise what steps are to be taken to remove the signs and prevent prosecution action being taken.
POSITIVE AND PROACTIVE STATEMENT
The applicant did not enter into any pre application discussions with the Local Planning Authority. It is considered that it is not possible to support a scheme of this nature nor would any amendments make it acceptable. It was not considered to be in accordance with the principles of the National Planning Policy Framework and resulted in this refusal.
