Conditions / Reason for Refusal: |
Refused works: Crown reduce the tree in height by 1.5m - 2m, whilst reducing the crown spread by 1m - 1.5m. A crown reduction would result in a significant portion of the crown being removed, resulting in numerous wounds which may be susceptible to pests and diseases. The photosynthetic capacity of the tree would also be reduced, as a result the tree may try to compensate for the loss of photosynthetic capacity by rapid regrowth. Research has shown that this type of regrowth can be weakly attached to the tree and susceptible to failure during adverse weather conditions.
It is however acknowledged that some works are required, so the following lesser work is given consent:
T21 (T11 within the application) - Prune the tree to provide a 1m clearance of the adjacent telegraph pole, whilst also providing clearance of the BT cables that run through the crown of the tree from the dwellings on Fitzwilliam Street.
Conditions:
1. All tree works shall be carried out in accordance with British Standard 3998: 2010 and shall not exceed the schedule of tree work(s).
2. Please note the authorised works should be completed within 2 years of the decision notice otherwise a new application for consent to carry out any non-exempt tree work will be required.
