The proposed aerial mast, by virtue of its size, siting and appearance in a prominent residential position, would introduce an incongruous feature which would be detrimental to the character and appearance of the area and to the amenity of the occupiers of nearby properties. As such the development is contrary to Local Plan Policies CS28 ‘Sustainable Development’ and SP55 ‘Design Principles’, and the guidance in the NPPF.
Informative:
Enforcement action has been authorised requiring the removal of the aerial mast, within a compliance period of 3 months. You are advised to remove the aerial mast to avoid formal enforcement action.
Positive and Proactive Statement
The applicant did not enter into any pre application discussions with the Local Planning Authority. Discussions during the determination of the application have identified that it is not possible to support a scheme of this nature, nor would any amendments make it acceptable. It was not considered to be in accordance with the principles of the National Planning Policy Framework which resulted in this refusal.
